About Us

    Darlene Boyle has raised and trained German Shepherds for close to 20 years. In the early years Darlene did AKC obedience and agility with both her German Shepherds.  In 2003  she obtained her first competition dog, Annika Vom Westerman, and her love for the sport of Schutzhund was born. Her husband soon followed suit and the world of raw feeding came with his new German Shepherd, Bodo Vom Landgraf. Skeptical at first, the research began and soon all the dogs were fed a diet based on Dr. Ian Billighurst’s B.A.R.F. diet. Annika had always been fed a quality kibble but was a finicky eater.  She would quite often refuse a meal or a particular kibble after a few feedings. Annika ate her first raw meal and every meal to follow with vigor and the Boyles never looked back. 

    Michelle Boyes has raised, trained, and bred dogs for over 30 years.  It wasn’t until 1990 that Michelle,  married with two children, obtained her first German Shepherd.  It was then her love for the breed was born.  Since then Michelle has owned and competed with four more German Shepherds.  Her retired sport dog Qui Gon Jinn vom Kriegsherren is the reason Michelle began feeding the B.A.R.F.  diet in 2005.  Michelle had always fed a quality kibble and canned food to her dogs.  However, Jinn quit eating all kibble and canned food.  While at a dog trial, a friend and fellow long time raw feeder suggested that Michelle feed Jinn a raw diet.  She gave Michelle a sample serving of what she fed her dogs.  Jinn cleaned her bowl!  From that day on, Michelle and her dogs have never looked at another bag of kibble again!  Michelle researched the variety of raw diets available and settled on the model designed by Dr. Ian Billinghurst’s  B.A.R.F. diet.

    Darlene and Michelle met while training and competing in the sport of Schutzhund.  They shared their love of the German Shepherd Dog!  They also discovered they both fed their dogs using the B.A.R.F. diet model.  They marveled at how healthy their dogs were and of course how great they looked!  They also commiserated over the time it took to prepare meals, especially for four or five dogs at a time.  They longed for one place where they could get everything they needed for their dogs’ meals, instead of shopping at a variety of sources.  After several years of commiseration, they decided to create a "one stop shop" for raw feeders in the greater Sacramento and North East Foothills area of California.  For that reason In The Raw K9 Grub was created!
